The Markets. The weekly price list contains few alterations from last week's quotations. Butter tcmains at Is \i holasale, Is 3d retail ; eggs, Scl per dozen wholesale, l(kl letail ; potatoes fiom 4s 5d to 4s lOd. Business in sharemarket. To-day Piince Imperial 2Ss to 33s Gd.
Milk Adulteration. George Blade, .1 farmer livinsc at Mangeie, Avas fined £5 and costs for adulterating milk with water to the extent of 33 per cent.
The Trunk Railway. The Chamber of Commerce, this afternoon! passed a strong resolution in favour of the immediate prosecution of the trunk railway and reaffirming the opinion of the chamber that the Stratford route is the best.
District Scholarships. Iv the scholarships examination Master Giffillan, aged 14, of Wellesleystreet, stood first with 841 marks ; Trobe, aged 13, of Paterangi, second with 814 marks ; Napier Murray, aged 15, Hamilton West, fourth with 787 marks ; Boyle, aged 12, Tauk.au, eighteenth, with 707 marks ; E. J. Davy, aged 12, Hamilton West, 25th with 675 marks ; C. E. Nixon, aged 15, Cambridge, 60S marks ; Eliza Harper, aged 18, Mangapiko, G55 marks; T. Ogle, aged 15, Kihikihi, 611 marks.
