Buckland. • For sonic cousideiable tune ]>a^t the unsuitability of the old Ohaupo Y.nds in which to hold the extensive cattle s.des of the Waikato distiict, that take place in th.it centie, has become moie and moie evident. A lot of \alnable tune was wasted in passing the cattlo undei the hammer, the cattle weie inevitably knocked about, and at times coiisideiably damaged ; buyers in the majmity of cases, — unle.ss they weie young and active men — seldom 01 never saw their pui chafes until they were brought into tlie sale shed, and had, theiefoie, not the advantage of e\ercising theii choice. In electing his new yards, Mr Buckland lias evidently kept in view the dehciences of the old, as well a a most modem impioveinents in this clas-s of •slablibhment. The saleyaid* of Mel bourne, Sydney, ami the otliei leading colonial towns aftoid a pittem which is now being accepted with con^ideiablo advantage, as, foi instance, in tlie case undei notice. Mr Buckland's new yaids weie formally opened on Tuesday last, and the time tn which the .sale was disposed o f , and the unpiecidentod facility vvitli which the bn&mtiss was put tlnough, showed con clusively the advantage of the new idea All who attended the sale weie unanimous in their e\pies.sioi.s of satisfaction at the way in w Inch business under the new system was earned on. Xeaily (iOO head of cattle were yaided, and these, without exception, changed hands, «;he pi ices realised in some cises being beyond the average. Below is appended a lepoit of tho sale. Much ciedit is due to Mi Buckland for the enterpiise which lie has manifested in thus keeping pace with the advancing lequueinents of the distiict, and consideiing m .such .1 piactical manner the wants and conveniences of his many customers. On Tuesday Mr Buckland invited his customeis ,md the public generally to a free luncheon povided by Mi "Delaney in the adjoining hall, and it is needless to that a lni«re number availed themselves of the invitation.
