The Cologne Gazette announces that Dr. Macttigal, the Germ in Commissioner, now on the West African Coast has formally annexed the town and district of Little Popo on the Guinea Cjaat near Dahomey. [Received September 5, 5.5 p.m.]

New Zealand securities : 5 per cent. 10 40 loan, 103k ex div. ; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 105^ ; 4fc per cent. 1579-1904 loan, 99£ ; 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 102£. Bank reserve, £13, 100,000, and proportion of t'r.at sum to liabilities, 45 per cent. The bank rate of discount remains at 2, and the market rate l^ per cent. The market for colonial breadstuffs and tallow is unchanged. At to day's auction 9300 bales were catalogued, and a fiun tone prevailed. Sydney fleece wools are now irregular up to date. 13,250 bales have been withdrawn from sale out of 225,000 catalogued.
