[BY TELEGRAPH. — FHESS ASSOCIATION.] WiaLiNGTCN, Fiiday Night. In the Legislative Council, the Colonial Secretary (Hon. Mr Buckley) gave a brief exposition of the policy of the Government, his remarks being substantially the same as those of the Premier in the House of Representatives on Wednesday last. The Financial Statement was in preparation, and he hoped that it u-ould be in the hands of niembeis in a very few days. He denied the rumour which was current that the appointment of a committee to consider the North Island Trunk Line Railway would shelve the question.
