THE FRANCO -CHINESE DIFFICULTY.
The following nvsaage to the PresAssociation is dated London August 17 : — Admirol Courliet is now engaged bombarding the Kaing Pai forts. It is reported in Shanghai that the French have killed 80,000 Chinese in Tonquin, losing several thousand themselves.

Reports are to hand that fully a thousand Chineese were killed and over three thousand were wounded during the bombardment of Foochow arsenal by the French fleet.
