SoME"of the constabulary are about to do some very much needed work on the road between here andTe Awamutu, they are to fascine aome of the worst holes in the road. The County Council I tear will grant the usual road pay of one shilling a day. The road is so bad that a good many people have been usiDg thelowerroadby the Mangahoe lately. We have had two teachers since Mr Nicholson left, aMr Bug was the first, and he has been replaced by Mr Talbot. The counter claimants to the Maungatautari block have all given their evidance, and the claimant (who had the option of leaving his case till last) is now being heard. For this case Tupotahi was the first witness examined, and Rewi la now giving his evidence. When this case is closed there may be some subdivision and succession claims to be decided, and this will finish the case as far as is known for M*imgatautari. It is expected the caae will be finished in about two or three weeks. — (Own correspondent).
