The Premier (Mr Stout) said, if no Ministry were formed in the meantime, lie would move on the next day for temporary iupplies. THE MINISTERIAL CRIvSIS. — STATESfENTS BY THE LKADEK3. Mr J. W. Thomson explained that he had been unable to form a Ministry, and hoped the House would give him credit for not having wasted any time. Sir George Grey said the Governor had asked him to form a Ministry, but finding the task impossible he had recommended his Excellency to send for Major Atkinson, who, he had ventured to say, was the only person who could succeed in forming a stable Government. This opinion was shared by the Governor, and he had his Excellency's permission to make that statement to the House. Major Atkinson Raid the Governor had been pleased to send for him that morning, and he had asked for a short time to enable him to consult with his friends. Ho was not yet in a position to make any definite statement. Ho was fully alive to the importance of bringing tho interruption in the business of the country to an end, and hoped to be able to make a satisfactory explanation to-morrow. He btrongly counselled the House to lay aside minor differences. Mr Seddon condemned the action of Sir George Grey in recommending the Governor to send for Major Atkinson, and contended that the Stout- Vogel Ministry should have been granted an opportunity to unfold its policy. The House then adjourned till 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday.
