TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — In your issue of the 12th you mention rich discoveries of gold and otliei minerals in the Transvaal by J. J. Hamilton. Can you say if the goldfield i.s alluvial or reef, and if the Boers pennifc Europeans working it. If you can inform me you will oblige in your next ismu\— I &id, &c., G.K. [The gold is alluvial. If, however, our correspondent has any idea of going to the Transvaal we can only offer him Punch's advice, " Don't." The laud of the Boei-. is just now an excellent place to live out. of. Ed.]
