THE AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS IN ENGLAND.

[BY TELEGRAPH. - COPYRIGHT.] [RENTER'S TELKORAMSj ■ :„ The All England Match Drawn. [Received August 14, 4.25 a.m..] Lonijon, August 1& The cricket match at the Oval, the Australians versus All England, was resumed and concluded to-day. the contest ending in a draw, as want of time prevented its completion. The English eleven in their first innings scored a total of 346. With the exception of Mr A. G. Steele, Scotton, and Mr W. W. Read, none of the eleven made any stand against the bowling of Palmer and Spofforth. When Steel and Scotton were in partnership, they became well set, and runs were freely scored, Scotton being in excellent form. Steele, however, was given out leg before wicket when lie had contributed 31. Read, on joining Scotton, succeeded hi adding materially to the score, and between the two a good display of batting was afforded the spectators. Scotton was caught, however, when he had run up a well played 90. Those who followed failed to remain long at the wickets, but Read continued to bat splendidly, and maintained his stand till the close of the iunings, when he was bowled, his score standing at 117. Being in a minority of 205 runs, the Englishmen had to follow on. Barlow and Lyttelton went in first, and runs came pretty fast, but the latter was bowled when he had put together 17. Shrewsbury followed, and aided Barlow in augmenting the score. Shrewsbury was caught after running up 37. Lord Harris joined Barlow. They remained in until time was called, the score standing at 85 with two wickets down. The weather during the day was fine, but very hot. The attendance at the Oval was good.
