THE PROPOSED HAWK CLUB.
Tub efforts of a few gentlemen in the Cambridge district to start a hawk club in Waikato have, we arc glad to say, met witli unexpected success. We slated a few days ago that something over £4O had been collected towards this object, and this sum has been considerably augmented since then. The Auckland Acclimatisation Society has been communicated with and they will hold a meeting at an early date to consider the hawk nuisance. The old order of the society, offering so much a head for hawks, we might mention, is still extant, but it does not seem to he taken advantage of. In order that success may attend the efforts of the club, the co-operation of the settlers should be secured, for without this little success can be expected. System will also require to be observed, so that operations may be carried on a consistent and pre-concerted scale. To the exertions of Mr W. Moon may be attributed the success which so far has been achieved. An advertisement calling a meeting of all interested in the proposed club appears elsewhere.
