Waikato Times Office, Wednesday. AUCKLAND STOCK AND 3HAKEMARKKT. Mb J. R. Uanderson nionfclily report : - There has been a decided improvement during the month in the mining market, owing to a rich find of specimen stone m; the^lbw; level (No. 6) of the New Prince Imperial Mine at the Thames, which promises well for the field. The same improvement is noticeable in the market for local stocks, owing to the indicated easing off intbß money market. Bank of New Zealand have advanced from £21 10s to, £22, with few Fellers at £22 ss. Colonial ,B*nks have firmed fiom 40* Gd to 435, with strong buyers and no declared sellers. New Zealand and South British Insurance are bettor by 2a to 3a per share, and other .shares of the same sort in proportion. Auckland Gas shares have also participated in the improvement, and are now nearly up to the highest quotations, having advanced from £10 2s Gd to £10 10s. There has also $fern advance in Taupiri Coal shares owing to continued success. The most iWe change in quotations has been in the Bhares of the New Prince Impeual Company, which advanced from 15s to 61*. The cause of this considerable advance is worthy of more than a passing notice. The low level, before mentioned, has been driven some distance on the lode, and so far has exceeded in results not only those of the previous level up to the same point, but also the most sanguine expectations. There is therefore a large block of valuable ground already opened up, and there can be no doubt but that many large returns will come from them. The directors have also, like wise men, decided at once to continue deepening the the main shaft to get ready for another level, as strong gold was left on the floor of the present drive. 1 hey have also been successful in securing a fine battery at the low figure of £1000.

Mkssss GoinsiißOUGH ASi) Co. report under date, Melbourne, Viotoiia, July 28 : — Wool.— Although the amount of business done in this waiket since the i&Mie of our last summary has been very limited, tlieie has been an active demand, and the puce-, rralised at the public l " lles liave been ni £ nlv satisfactory. In all 12J3 bales have changed hands duung the month. The season continues favourable for pastoral persuits throughout the greater portion of this colony and New South Wales, and the effects of the late drought on the northern pastures are rapidly passing away. The lambing is now nearly o\er, and the percentages m many distiicts are much greater than was anticipated ; still there is no reason to donbt but that the general inciease will be much below the average. Within the last few days, owing to moie favourable news from the United Kingdom, there has been a better shipping demand, with improved values. Rome fresh charters have been negotiated at fiom 27s Od to 30i pei ton, and the next P. O. steamer will take about GOO tons of wheat and flour at these rates. The intercolonial markets are all dull ; still we continue to expoit large paicels of flour weekly to the adjoining colonies, which help-> to relieve us of our acculumatiug stock. Our piospects for the ensuing season aie thus far veiy favourable, fine rains having fallen throughout the colony.— Wheat is now m demand at 4s ex store up to 4s Id, f. o. b., but is difficult to secure large parcels at these quotations. — Flour, owing to the large stocks on hand, is dull at sale at from £S to £8 ss, according to brand : but beyond ordinary tiade enquiry, there is not much business doing. —Oats have further leceded in value during the month, owing to large supplies coming to hand fLom New Zealand, and prices vile fiom 2^ 8d to 3s Id, according to quality and condition.— Barley has also declined, with very little enquiry.
