CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
— — J. The usual monthly meeting of this body was held at the Critei ion Hotel Cambridge on Monday evtmnig 1 last. ' Present : Messrs it. W." Sargent ' (chairman), E. Hewitt, Thomson and Wells. Alterations in .Teaching Staff.— A communication was received fiom the board to the effect that it had authorised the removal of Mr Higginson, pupil teacher, at his own request, and for removal to another school. Mias Tristram, pupil teacher, would also'shorlly be removed to another school where her services were required. Mr Green's appointment as probationer terminated on the the Slat July. The arrangement proposed by the board to fill up the staff according to the regulations was as follows :—(1): — (1) To scud as male pupil teacher Mr Herbeit Westmoreland, aged 19 years, employed at the Waipipi school, and previously engaged as pupil teacher in a large school at Sheffield, England. (2) To appoint on probation as an assistant Miss Hannah J. Priestley, aged 19 years, who has passed the (Kfoid junior and senior local examinations, is qualified as an Associate in Arts, and has had three years English experience in teaching. This arrangement would provide the school with a staff not exceeding in numbers the scale set forth at page six of the rules and regulations. A further communication from the board asked if the committee had any suggestion to offer regarding the appointment of Miss Priestley. — There were no suggestions to offer. Repairs necessyry.— The Headmaster Mr W. S. Stewart, wrote offering a number of suggestions' respecting necessary repairs to the school buildings &c. — It was agreed to give the matter the necessary attention. Boakd Election. — A circular was read fiom Mr W. F. Eucklanil, soliciting the vote of the Committee at the foi tlicoming election to fill the \acancy in the board. — It was agreed that Mr Buck land iccehc the vote of the committee. Testimonial to Mr Collii.r. — It was unanimously agicod that a testimonial of the highest chaiacter be «iven Mr Collier the late head teacher. — Sacral members of the Committee testified to the high appreciation in which Mr Collier was held by the parents, both as a teacher and as a gentleman. Some othei business of a founal character was disposed of and a few accounts passed for payment.
