Application to L' asu. —An appplication was leeeived fiom Mr R. II Hyatt offunie; to lease allotments 70 and 71 Camhiidge West at ."is an acre. These weie some of the allotments winch had been leased by defaulter, and upon which the Governor had been lequested to ie-entei. — The chaii man said the boaid lud fixed an upset pi ice of 13a on those allotments. A reply should be sent to Mr Hyatt to this effect. — Mr Hewitt thought that the amount of Mr Hyatt s oiler was quite sufficient, and that he should have them at that puce. It was as mi eh as they weie ■woith. — MrKukwood thought the piice should at least be reduced to 10s — It was agieed that Mi Hyatt's offer of 5s be lefused, and albo that the dealing with the sections be allow eel to stand over until a Jeply had been received fiom the Go\ eminent as to why the Governor had not foinnlly reentered as previously requested by the boaid. Planting. — Mr Forest, nurseyman wrote offei ing to supply the boaid with suitable plants and shrubs for use on the Domain leservc. The consideration of the offer was deferred until the arrival of Mr Purdy. Cambridge West Reserve.— lt was agreed on the representation of Mr Fisher that tenders be called for clearing the lescrve of 2o\ acics (No 20) Cam biid»e West. Mr Williams Again.— The Chairman lead a f uither commnin cation from Mr Williams to the Colonial Secretary, which had been refeired to the boaul for its reply. The letter stated that the boaid's explanation re diainage in the lake would have been satisfactory in the extreme had the purport of the letter been adhered to, but this the chairman had no intention of doing when he wrote it. The letter of explanation was therefore unsatisfactory and misleading. The board was draining the filthy water of the town into the lake. The chairman had wiitten the letter in order to convey an incorrect impression, so that ho might be able to carry out his contemplated work. The said work had given gi eat dissatisfaction to a considerable number of the residents. The board as at present constituted was very unsatisfactory. The Pukekura membeis stated that they had nothing to do with Cambiidge East, and give way to the trustees of that side of the river. He suggested that the board be made elective, and that the nnmber of members be increased to seven, and, of both sides of the river were included, to nine membeis. He would have had great pleasure in recommending that the domain lands be handed over to the town board were it not that that body had joined with the domain board in the drainage scheme. The writer went on to state that he had been informed on good authority that the board contemplated prohibiting bathing in the Lake, thus inflicting another in jiuy on the residents. There was no altei native but to bathe in the river, which was exceedingly dangerous. The board in this respect were exceeding the powers conveyed to them in their trust. He did not object to bathing being restricted to certain hours.— Mr Fisher, as one of the Pukekura membert, denied the correctness of Mr Williams' statements respecting him. What he meant was that anything which the Cambridge East members deemed necessary in the interests of the town he would not oppose. — The letter was looked upon as unworthy of acknowledgment, and not deserving to be seriously entertained. 'Mr Williams' statements res pectiug bathing were absolutely without foundation, and nothing had ever been said on the matter by the board. It was agreed to forward a memo to the Colonial Secretary to the effect that the whole of Mr Williams' letter ia a tissue of misstatements. Accounts.— The ' following accounts were passed for payments :— Gwynneth, £1 11s 6d ; J. S. Bond, £2 -15s ; Jas. Taylor, £10 7s 9d ; Purdie, £9, 95.
