Mr Thomas Bracken who leaves Dunedin on Friday to settle in Wellington, was presented to-day with a purse of 180 soys., subscribed by the citizens of Dunedin. Ihere were 60 or 70 gentlemen present. The mayor was in the chair, and the presentation was made by Mr G-. 0, Fenwick, managing director of the Otago Daily Times. Mr Annia, on behalf of the enginedrivers and firemen of the railway, presented Mr Bracken with a handsomelyframed address, and with a set or diamond earrings aud brooch for Mrs Bracken. The 1.0.0.D., in which MiBracken held the office of D.D.G., subscribed amongst themselves a souvenir in the shape of a diamond locket, and merged the balance of their subscription into the memorial fund. Mr Stout appeared in the Supreme Court to-day, in the case Bank of Australia v. W. Guthrie, claim jb'4lo3 16s 9d, balance of a guarantee. The case was only partly heard to-day, and goes on to-morrow.
