[REUTERS TELEGRAM'S.] Sydney, August 12. In the Legislative Absembly to-night, the Premier announced that a telegtam had been received from the Agent-Gene-ral, in reply to one despatched to him, uiging that the Imperial Bill to enible the fedeiation of tlic colonies should be postponed. The Agent-General in reply stated that the Enabling Bill would not be introduced this session in the House of Commons. The news was received in the Assembly with applause.
(Received August 13, 1.20 p.m.) Auel vide, Wednesday. Mi* "France's Financial Statement was made in the Assembly last night. The Treasurer referred to the giavity of the financial position of the colony, and announced that the Government would propose the imposition of a land tax of a half-penny in the pound without exemption, and an income tax on vested capital of sixpence, and on incomes from professions or trades of threepence in the pound. The revenue from these sources is expected to amount to £200,000 yeaily.
