The Franchise Bill. London, August 11. A demonstration in support of the action in the House of Lords in rejecting the Franchise Bill took place last night, at Manchester. The meeting, which was a densly crowded one, was addressed by the Maiquis of Salisbury and Lord Randolph, Churchill. A resolution was passed in fa yon r of continued opposition to the form bill.
England and the Transvaal. Cape Town, August 9. Intelligence is to hand from Pretotia that the Volksiaad has ratified the convention which was concluded in Fehurary last between the Transvaal delegates and the British Government.
