THE LATEST. [BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Te Akoha, Friday Night.

There is considerable interest being shown in the coming election of councillor for the riding. Three candidates, viz.: Messrs W. A. Murray, J. B. Smith, and D. Murphy are in the field. The nomination is to be on the 18th, and the poll on the 25th inst. There is very little mining news of any importance. The claims being worked on the hill are all going on about as usual. Tenders are invited for the erection of a shoot and hopper for the Diamond Gully Company. When completed, this company will be sending down a large parcel ot stone to be crushed. Operations have this week been resumed in the Premier mine, under the management of Mr John Goldsworthy. Crushing at the battery is going on as usual, all the stampers being fully employed. The New Find have 20 head, Colonist 10 head, Canadian 5 head, and the Inverness 5 head.

Mr Hyatt, Cambridge West, announces that he is prepared to supply Bagnail Bros.' Langstroth hives, foundation comb, smokers, extractors, and all necessary appliances of the apiary. Mr C. F.
