[eeuteb's telkgkams.] Cape T©\vn, August 6. Telegrams from the Transvaal state that severe fighting has taken place between the natives, under Montsiva, and a large force of Boers. The battle was fought with great determination on butli sides, and largs numbers were killed. Amongst them were several Englishmen. The conflict resulted in the defeat of the Boers, who lost heavily during the day.
during day. Vienna, August 6. The German Emperor VVilliam, and the Emperor Francis Joseph of Austria, met to-day at Ischil. The interview wm of a most cordial nature.
London, August 7. Lord Northbrook, who is about to visit Egypt as High Commissioner to report upon the state of affairs in that country, will leave England for Cairo on the 30th inst.
