TOBA CCO-GRO WING IN WAIKA TO.

Mr Jackson, the representative of the New Zealand Tobacco Company, is at present on a visit to the Waikato district with the object of inducing settlers to undertake the the growing of the tobacco plant. It is the object of the company to induce the settles of the Auckland province to supply the demand, instead of having to send out of the colony for what they require. Mr Jackson will supply any farmer, who undertakes to' grow the plant, with the necessary seed, and will also give him the required instructions as to production and treatment. The company will buy the tobacco leaf, giving from 6d to 8d a pound for the cured article. An acre of ground will grow on an average nearly 2000 pounds of leaf. Mr Jack&on visited Pukekura on Tuesday last and called upon several of the settlers there. Several have already promised to undertake the growth of about an acre by way of experiment. , Both the soil and climate of Waikato aie in every respect suitable to the growth of tobacco, and we have geen several excellent samples of the leaf raised 1 in, the district. Any person wishing to undertake tobaccogrowing will receive the necessary seed and all information from Mr Jaokson at Cambridge,-
