(Received August 1, 2.15 p.m.) The Conference. London, July 31. It has transpired that the cause of the further adjournment of the Egyptian Conference is that M. Waddington, the French delegate, is not yet prepared to agiee to any "final report on behalf of his Government.
(Received Ist August, 1 p.m.) Prance and China. Shanghai, July 31. A report is current here to-day that the Chinese Government has agreed to pay Franco the sum of five millions sterling as reparation for the Lungs ton affair, No confirmatory information on the subject, however, can be obtained. Later. The amount winch it is reported China is prepared to pay as an indemnity to Pi ance is s,ooo, OOO'taels (s.iy £ 1 ,500,000), not five millions sterling, as stated in last telegram.
The Egyptian Conference. London, July 31. The European conference on Egyptian affaiis met again to-day, but it was further adjourned until Saturday next.
