CAMBRIDGE DOMAIN BOARD.
A meeting of this body was held at the town board office on Monday last. Present : Messrs T. Wells (chairman), Kirkwood and Hewitt. Improvements to Lake Te Koutu.— The following tenders were received for clearing and fencing Te Koutu Lake reserve :— Fencing : George Watt, 17s 6d per chain ; Willoughby and Son, 15s 3d ; H. Brindle, ]9s (informal) ; Martin Bros. 16s 7d. Clearints : Ja». McKearney, 6s per acre ; Willoughby and Son, 12s ; Martin Bros., 17s ; Stewart and Longbottom, 12s. Willoughby and Son's tender was accepted for the fencing, and Stewart and Lotigbottom's tender was accepted for the clearing. ! Another GJift. — A letter was received from Messrs Pearson Bros., offering the board fifty horse chestnut trees and fifty elm trees for the purpose of planting the domain. — The Chairman stated that-he had replied, thanking them for their handsome present, and stating that when the gardener commenced work the board would give them due notice. Boundary Fence.— Mr Jas. Taylor wrote, re putting up a fence between bis property and that of the board. It was agreed to recommend the proposal to the favourable condition of the board at its nex,t meeting. The Railway and the Board,— The Chairman stated that the railway had taken a portion of the domain land without apprising them of their action,— -It was agreed that the Minister of Lands be written to, asking on what > authority they had taken possession of the land. This was alHne business. '
