POLITICAL INCONSISTENCY.
to thi: i:r>iron. Sir, — The above is a mild term for the following circumstance, which probably for baseness has rarely, if ever, been equalled : — A few days ago Dr. Beale and myself debated the matter of the two candidates, and on the subject of Mr Bryce's Land Bill, originated by Sir George (.Tiey, we decided that Mr Lake should have the pieference, and agreed to work together, upon this understanding he was supplied with a roll and promised to canvass in Mr Lake's inteiest. To-day, I accompanied him to Ng.iruawahia for the purpose of canvassing, and after leading me to believe that he was working in Mr Lake's interest I found to my uttpi astcmishmentthat he was positively in active canvass for Major Jackson. In the future is Dr. Beale to bo believed on any political matter ? — I am, &c. Wll. JoVUb, Hamilton, July 21st, 1884.
