THE WAIPA ELECTION.
Major Jackson at Alexandra. Major Jackson addressed the Electors here in the Public Hall on Tuesday last about fifty being pi oscnt. Mr J. D. Hall, was called to the chair, and intioduced the 1 Candidate. The Major's addiess was, of course simular to that delivered at Hamilton, arid reported in your columns, so need n6t be lepeated. At the close of his speech, which was well received, Major Jackson satisfactory answered questions put to him by various clectois, and on tb ! e motion of Mr J. Sage, seconded by Mr, Neville Walker, A vote of thanks to Major Jackson for his address, and confidence in him as a representative for the Waipa constituency was passed unanimously. 'A vote of thanks to the chairman was passed with acclamation. — (Own Correspondent.)

Mr Lake at AlexandraMr B. Lake addiessed a large and influennieeting of electois in the Public Hall on Wednesday, the 16th inst., and was accorded a hearty and enthusiastic reception. . v mr Jas. Sinden was voted to the chair, and 'introduced the candidate. Mr Lake then addiessed the electors touching upon all the leading political questions which now agitate the public niind, but as the tenor of his address was [^essentially tue same as delivered in other '"finite of the district, and published by I need not enter into details, but remark that Mr Lake is a good jufeaker with a clear resonant voice, and ' a great command of language. , ~. 'jflis Bpeech now and again elicted loud, " and vigorous applause, and at theclose he r- expressed his willingness to answer any question put to him.
