KIHIKIHI TOWN BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Kihikihi Town Board was held on Saturday last. Present : Crs. Farrell (chairman), Wilkinson, Berry, Vcrner and Ti istram. Communications Heokivkd. —From the Undersecretary for Public Works, replying to the deputation which waited on the Minister "when in Kihikihi, re telegraphist and linesman ; from the same department, concerning grants to local bodies under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, and the mode of making imprest payments ; fiom the Waipa County Council, respecting the distribution ot poisoned wheat, and also m refer ence to the deposit of eaith in Gallowaystreet. Small Bird Nuisancf.— In repaid to the poisoned wheat, the boaid decided to accept some of the giain, and clibtnbutc it to those requiring it in the immediate neighboui hood of the town, but they deemecd it undesirable at picsent to unite with other bodies for a bimultaneous and indiscriminate distinction of small birds. Rb Earth i> Galloway-strict, &c. — The boaid lesolved to mfoiin the council " that the t>talu quo" remained the same as on the 28th Apnl, and demand a reply in detail without fiuther evasion. . On the motion of the Chaiiman it was lesolved to invite tendcts for diaining the side-walks, and forming the footpaths between Lyon and Moulc stieets. It was proposed by Cr. Berry, and seconded by Cr. W ilkinsou, that the clerk be instructed to wtite to the chaiuiian of the Ragiaohia Highway Board, and ask if that body would pay a poition of the cost of certain repaiis urgently requned on the hmindaiy of llerbei t stieet This board ha\ ing in view the execrable conjfition of the main road fiom Te Awamutu to Kihikihi, and whidi is the pnncipal thoioughfaic leading to the town, passed a vote of censme on the county council for bieaking np tlie load in the very depths of wmtei and operating thereon, theieby causing seiious inconvenience and consuleiable loss to the fanneisand business people, as well as to the public geneially. Account-, amounting to C.37 10s were passed for payment.— (Own Concspondent).
