MASONIC. Installation Ceremony and Ball, Lodge Beta, Hamilton.
The ceremony of installing tho W.M. and officers of Lodge Beta, Waikato, 450, 1.C., look place at the Masonic Hall, Hamilton East, on Thursday evening. There was a large attendance of the brethren and visiting biethren, including the officers of Alpha, E.C., Cambridge, and the principal officers of Lodge Alexandra, E.C., AleKaodra. I.P. M, Bro. Murr.iv acted ab installing Officer, and P.M. Bro. Johnson as presenting officer. BrcC T. A. Bell efficiently performed the duty of organist. Bro, George Edgecumbe having been duly installed in the Worshipful Master's chair, invested his officers as follows* : — S. W., Bio. ! T. (i. Sarnies ; J. W. , Bro. W. Dey ; S. D. , Bro. S. B. G. Smith ; J.D., Bro. C. F. Napper ; Tieasuier, Bro. S. McLernon ; Secretary, Bro. C. J. W. Barton; 1.G., Em. K. Edwards ; Tyler, Bro. Pascoe. After the ceiemony, the brethicn adjourned to the Oddfellows'. Hall, where arrangements had been made for a supper and ball, the officeirf having wisely ruled that the wives, sisters, and daughters nf Masons, if they cannot share the labours of the Lodge, should at leant be participator in their social enjoytiieiit. The hall was appioptiately decorated with H<*g* and Ma.sonic emblem*) and fcevtt., an^ iv poition was partitioned off to seive as a supper loom. .In this ncaily eighty people sat down to an excellent cold collation, contributed by the biethien, and nupei intended by Mi Mullimi^, to whom much of the credit earned is due. The chair was taken by the newly-elected W.M., Bio. Gen. Kdffeeumbe, having as his .snppoiteis Bio. Munay, I. P.M., Bro. Roche, W.M. Lodge Alexandra, Bio. Chitfcy, W.M. Lodge Alpha, and Bro. M. Moses, I.P M. Lodge Alpha. The vice-chairs woe filled by the Wardens, Bros. Sandes and Dey, Mippoi tod by the Wardens of the visiting Lodges, Bros. H. W. Moore and C. Tuck, Alpha, and Bros. Hallett and Kirk (acting), Alexandra. When the material delicacies had been fully discussed the following toasts were proposed, and drank with Masonic honours : — "The Queen and Craft," and "Tho Prince of Wales" proposed by the W.M. "The three grand Masters," Propo&ed by the W.M. "The Piovincial Grand Master I.G. Brother G. P. Pierce, and the officers of tho Grand Lodge," proposed by Bio. P.M. Mm lay. "The Worshipful Master, Past Masteis, and officers of Lodge Buta" pioposed by Bio. the Key. William Calder, in a veiy humourous speech, and responded to by P.M. Bios. G.B. Beere, Gaudm, Giaham, Johnson, Murray, and Bro. Edgecumbe. "Tbe viaiting brethren," proposed by Bn\ T. G. Sandes, andiesponded toby Bros 11. W. Roche, Chitty, and H. W. Mooro (Priuce of Wales); "Masons' wives and bairns," proposed by Bro. S. E. G. Smith, S.D.. and responded to by Bro. P. M. Munay; " The Ladies " proposed by Bro. P.M. Johnson, and responded to by Bro. Burnand. " Poor and distressed masons i fchjoughoufc the World" proposed by the Tyler. The company then adjourned to the ball-room where dancing was kept up with spirit until about 2 a'clock yesterday j morning. The music was supplied by Mr \ Holloway's band, which played in a most acceptable manner.
