DUNEDIN, Thursday.
The Stella has returned from her visit to the Auckland Islands. At Sarah's Bosom found traces of persons lately landed, but the depSfc was in good order. Traces of people having been cutting wood in Carnley harbour were also seen, though no person could be found. The Stella met the Kino at Waterfall Inlet. Notice boards prohibiting persons frpm a killing, hunting, or catching seal during the prohibited time extending in June, 1886, were placed on the islands. Friday. It is stated that the publicans have resolved to vote as a body for Mr Green in preference to Mr Stout for Dunedin East. Mr Robert Gibbs is definitely out for Bruce. A third candidate, Mr J. Well 3, is out for the Peninsula. In consequence of the Herald's attack on Mr Stout, Mr Bracken has resigned the managership of that paper
