Major Kitchner, who for some time past has been in command of a body of Bedouins (irregular troops) stationed at Korosko. telegr.iphs from that town that he sighted the rebel at my duriujy a recent reconnaissance. Detailed accounts from independanf sources con^rm Major Kitchiuer's report, and show that a- strong body of rebels is now marching upon Korosko. I lie town is ibout half-way between Assouan and Wady Haifa, and 100 miles from the southern boundry of Upper Egypt, and commanding the passage of the Nile. Another body of troops is known to be marching towards Dongola, an important Nubian town above the third cataract on the Nile. In view of threatened attacks by the Arabs and their possible advance further northwards the Royal Sussex regiment, now stationed at Assoint, has been ordered to proceed a 6 once to Assouan, the frontier town of Upper Egypt, and animpoitant stragetical position. The increasing gra\ ity of the situation is causing consideiablu al.at in theie, and anxiety is felt for th p gat risous and inhabitants of Dongola and Koiosko, which are belie\cd to be threatened with attae'es. Another regiment will follow the Royal Sessex to Assouan within a short time, in order to strengthen the garrison at that place.
