1 Messrs R. M. HarGHroN and Co., New Zealand Labour Exchange, 177, Queentreet, Auckland, report.—Business has been quiet during the last week, owing to 'the inclemency of the weather. The carrivaj of the s.a. Doric has increased our supply of men servants, and we are able to rengage men and youths on the shortest notice. Wo now have registered on our books—good milkers, general faini hands, bnshmen, managers for farms 01 stations, married couples, labouien, carpenter, storemen aud others. Oiu engagements during the week wore : cooks 2js to 40->; farm hands, 10, to 20? ; milker", 8s to 15>. Women servants are not over plentiful, but we are prepared to attend to all ordei-., and to engage housekeeper-., needlewomen, cooks, housemaids, general servants, par-lour-maids, and nurse-giils. Our engagements have been housckecpeis, 15s to 20>: cooka, 12s to 2r^ ; general servants MX to 14s; parlour-niaidb, 12a; nurscgnls, 5s to Bs. Employer* would do well, when foiwarding their ordeis at a distauce, to fctipulate as to wages, passage money if paid, and as to duties required, &c
London, June 15). —Consols remained at 99g ex div.—The bank rate remains at 2, and the market rate at l\ per cent.—The bank reserves is now £15.900,000, being an increased of £(500,000 dm ing the week. The proportion of reserves to liabilities is 47 pei cont. —New Zealand secuuties lemain at last quotations.—The niaiket for colonial bivacKtu/Ts and tallow are without quotable change. London. June 20.—Consols remain at of)i, and New Zealand secuiitiei at last quotations.—The mai kets foroolonial tallow and breadstuff's are unchanged. —The total quantity on passage and shipping to the United Kingdom is. 2,010,000 quaiter^, a decrease during the week of 40,000 quarters. —Pi nno New Zealand mutton is quoted today at s\d per lb.—Copia has declined 10per ton. " Sydney smithied is now worth £17 10s.—Australian Hither.—Best sides have advanced to llgd. The market for hides is quiet— Hops.— Accounts to hand from the English d^tnets are generally less favourable : jnoie win being loquiied.— Wool.—The market is quiet. The amval-, of new wools for the August and September neiiesof auctions now amount to 200,000 bales.
