The Council met at 3 p. rain reply to Mr Stevens, Mr Oliver said that the Pacific^ Mgil Company were, under a contract about toi be executed, bound under a penalty of £25,000 to carry out the mail contract, as far as the coloay is concerned, till next November twelve raontbs'for £31,260 a-year, and there is now a great probability of getting it reduced by £8,500, by the American Government contributing thereto. The Council then adjourned until noon to-morrow. ■ . . -
