At the meeting of the board on Satin day the uliaiiman, Mr Wells, introduced the matter. He thought that if the Eoaid could see its way clear it might very well make a commencement with the planting of some of tlio_ Domain lands, now that the pioper season was at. hand. He would piopose to stait with planting the bank of the Lake from the PresLytciun (Jhni'ch to Henson's corner : also the frontage, of section 7 on the Hamilton Boad opposite the cricket reserve, section No 1 7 on the Victoria road and section 43 on the Taotaoioa road and the vacant section adjoining. He would liopose a motion to this effect. — MYKirkwood suggested that the Lake should be done fiist. — Mr Wells thought they should secure the services of a landscape gardener to lay off the bauks of the Lake into small terraces, and plant it with suitable trees.— Mr Campbell thought the cost of this work would be veiy considerable as compared with the means at their disposal. The trees would require to be fenced, and the fencing v ould be a very expensive item This portion of the work alone would cost over £100.— Mr Fisher thought it best that the Lake should be done first.— ln reply to a question, the clerk stated that the boaid's ciedit at the present time was about £2.30. On the motion of Mr Fisher (Mr Wells bavin? withdrawn his motion), it was unanimously agreed "That a competent mau be engaged to prepare plans for laying out the Lake grounds with a view to beautifying and planting the same with trees ; and further that a quarter chain of allotment No. 7 on the Hamilton Road be fenced off and planted with trees." — Mr Wells said he had noticed by The Waikato Times that the Auckland Domain JBoard liad made an offer of trees and shrubs to the Hamilton Domain Board to plant its grounds. He thought that they shonld cominunicajte with the Auckland Board, intimating their willingness' to accept a similar offer, 1 -— This course was agreed to, ' ,
