Some important changes in the conduct of the North New _ Zealand Panneis' Co-opeiatise Association have taken place within the past few days. Mr Joseph Ganchas been appointed manager pi o tern, Mr Garrett has received the appointment of secretary, and the lettered office is to be removed to Auckland forthwith. The new departiue is not \iewed with favour by the Waikato shareholders, and it is more than probable that Tuesday's meeting will iefus.e to confirm the resolution to alter the system of voting.
The ordinary meeting of the Tamahere Road Boaid, took place at Camp's Hotel yesterday. Present ;— Capt. Runcimau, (chairman), Messrs Wheeler, Bam?h, Rhodes, and J. McNicol. It was resolved to make application under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act for a sum of £3,000 or £4,000 for the purpose of forming the main road from Crawfords gully to Tauwhare a«d from Cambiidge by the Victoria road to Tauwhaie. It was decided to call for tenders for keeping the new cuttings at Crawfords gully ia order for the next six months. The remainder of the business was of a routine chaiacter.
At the Police Court, Hamilton, on Thursday, before Mr H. W. Noifchcroft, R.M., Henry Weeks was charged under the English' Masters and Servants Act with absenting himself from his employment without lawful excuse. _ Defendant was employed at Knox and Rider's Excelsior Flour Mills, and> since Monday morning had been on the " spree,"' to the serious loss of his employers.! Mr Knox, who attended at the court, said he had no wish to press the cbargej liut^desired tl^e defendant should be cautioned, , His Worship severely cautioned Weeks, arid pointed out to him that he had reudered himsslf liable to a heavy penalty. Mr R. W. Sceats, formerly a member of the Simonseti Company, is a most excellent baritone linger. j\li Jidmiston is the popular basso cautantu whose name figmes so consj)icuously in connection with tno vocal concerts of Auckland, and the centre of attraction is Mr Hood, who h undoubtedly an ailiste of a very high order, and who never fails to gi atify an audience.
The amateur negro minstrel eutettainmeut, to be given at the Oddfellows' Hall, Hamilton Eabt, oil Tuesday evening ne\t, piomiseb to be particularly good. All the best amateur vocal talent is engaged, and a gentleman who lias already made his maik as a comedian will make his fit st appearance at "the corner," and will sing an old song with new words. The solo^ and choruses have been carefully ieh earned, and the instrumental department has been entrusted to competent handb. There is to bp a plentiful supply of humourous jokes and sayings, a stump speech, and some quartottos by the members of a well-known local institution. The tickets ha\ c gone off remarkably well, and it now rests almost solely with Commander Kdwin to say whether the performance shall be successful or not.
