Creosoted Wood Hard to Burn.

An establishment for creosoting piles and plank was recently burned in New Yoik, when it was demonstrated that cieosotmg afforded considerable protection against fire. Where tho flames could reach tho compaiatirely uninjected heart wood, they nto into it, leaving a charred creosoted shell. In all tho above chancd pieces the fire went out of itself ; creosoted wood burns with a denso black smoke, which probably has a smotheung effect."
