The Opening of Parliament. Auckland, Monday Night. The Hineinoa leaves to-morrow for Wellington, 'with the members.
Devoured by Wild Pigs. There are reasons to believe that - a youth named John Thomas Jaring has beeu devoured by wild pigs in Wairoa South. He left home on horseback on May 24th, with butter and eggs for, the market, and has not since been heard of. His horse was found on the road with its chest cut in several places, and some distance further on portions of 'the boy's clothes were found oa the ground, at %

The Licensing Act. The licensing committee for City North sat to-day, and refused in every instance extensions beyond ten o'clock, so that from to-day the houses in that district close at ten.
> Meeting of Creditors. A meeting of the creditors of Moore and Townsheiid, held to-day, was of a stormy character. It was shown that a large quantity of liquor hail been sold to friends just prior to insolvency.
