London, May 8. Hpr Majesty the Quekn arrived at Windsor Castle from Darmstadt yesterday evening. The Oriental Bank Corporation, which suspended payment on the 3rd instant, was compelled to adopt this coarse in consequence of the rapid ami unexpected withdrawal of deposits at its eastern branches. An examination, which has been already made of the available assets, show that depositors will probably recenelTsGd in the pound, and in the meantime the liquidator will undertake the management of the company's estate in the Mauritius.
Londox, May y. The tenders for the £800,000 4 per cent, loan for Tasmania weie opened today- ar.d were found to amount to a tot.ilot two and a quarter millions. For the Tasmamau loan, tenders at £100 4s *:ll leoeive 17 percent, of the allotment, and tendeis above that price in full. A Press Association messnge says :—: — The Tasmanian 4 per cent, loan of £500,000 was opened to-day, and is au assured success. Theie were 400 tenders, amounting in the aggregate to two millions and a quarter. Those at £100 4* obtain 2i) pei cent., and those above that allotment in full.
