THE DEPRESSION IN OTAGO. [BY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Tuesday.
On April 29th, tho Mayor of Dunedin sent the following to the Premier at Wellington: — "Number of men hoie unable to obtain work ; strongly urge y..u to open a small section on the Otago Centi.il Railway or other work, foi the unemployed dming the winter month.-)." Tho following reply has been received :—" Many thanks for telegram re unemployed. (xovernment nient making arrangements to take mon on when necessary, but in public interest think tho necessity must be clearly blown before relief woi ks are opened.
