Her Ears Had Been Bored.
"Don't you think earrings would become you ?" inquired Eosciusko Murphy of Birdie McGee. Kosciusko had been paying Birdie very assidious alicniion of late. " I don't know/ replied Birdie demurely. " I suppose the reason you don't -near them is because it will hurt so to hare your ears bored ?" " Oh, not in the least/ said Birdie, with animation. "ISe had that done already, quite often, almost every evening — in fact, for the last three v.-eeks." Then Kosciusko reached round to the piauo, dragged his hat off the cover and commenced to fade gradually from the room. He fairly melted away into obscurity, and now a wide chasm beparates the gallant Kosciusko and the charming Birdie. — Texas Si/tings.
