KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD. Aunual Meeting of Ratepayers.

The annual meeting of the ratepayers of the Kirikiriroa Road District was held at the Waikato County Chambers, Hamilton East yesterday. A quorum of the ratepayers were present, and Mr A. P) imrose, chairman of the board, presided, The'chairman said under the new act the annual meetings were not so interesting as formerly, and there was veiy little to do. The board during the past year had been doing the best they could, and he could say that the members had been very regular in their duties. It was to the credit of Xii ikiriroa that for years past not a single meeting of the board had lapsed for want of a quoi urn. He was glad to say that the roads throughout the district were improving. He hoped soon to see the whole of the main roads in an efficient state. Many of the district roads required attention, and he was afraid they would not be able to reduce the amount of the rate during the current year. The Secretary then read the annual statement of accounts, which had been duly audited and found correct. From this it appeared that the total revenue (including t main and dibtrict road grants under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act), amounted to £2530 15s 7d, and the expenditure £2407 Us 4d, leaving a balance in the Bank and in hand of £123 4s 3d, arrears of rates amounted to £310, and there were outstanding liabilities amounting to £122 19s 9d. None of the ratepayers present having anything to say in reference to the accounts, the statement was duly signed by the chairman. Mr Gaudin drew the attention of the board to the need for doing something on the river road between the Kirikiriroa school and Ngaruawahia. He said the ratepayers on that road had been paying rates for the last 18 or 20 years, and it was but fair that something should be done. The Chairman said if Mr Gaudin were to travel over the road just now he would alter his opinion. The board had spent and were spending a considerable sum of money on this road. The Secretary said £900 had been spent on district roads lasb year, and the most of that went on the river road. After some further conversation, Mr Gaudin moved a vote of thanks to the board, which was seconded by Mr Gillett, and carried unanimously. j The Secretary reported that Messrs Lovell and J. McNicol has been elected to fill the vacancies caused by the retirement of Messrs Lovell and Thomas.

A meeting of the board was held immediately after the above, when there were r»3bnt: Messrs Primrose (chairman), T. Runciman, Lovell and H. Steele, but the business done was of no public interest. Messrs W. T. Hunter and Co. -will sell at the Ohaupo Yards on Tuesday, May 6th, a large number „ of , cattlei surreyor'si instruments, &c. They wDHioia tbclr Ngi-ruavraHuCattlo Sale on
