Accokding to statistics recently published there are 300 towns in the German Empire possessing orchestras and choral societies that give concerts in the season. A good harness grease is made of one ounce of lamp-black worked up into a smooth paste with four ounces of castor oil. This is then mixed with a pound of tallow, and the mixture stirred until cold. The harness is ' washed with a sponge and warm water and soap, wiped with a dry cloth, and then rubbed with the above mixture, which should be worked into the leather with a cloth.
