The Markets. Auckland, Friday Night. Market quotations to-day.—Wholesale : butter, fresh, 10(1 ; salt, 8d to lOd; cheese, good local, 4d to s*l ; Canterbury^-' ditto, sd; eggs, per doz., Is 6d ; lard, per bladder, 7d to 7\d ; bacon and hams, provincial, 6d to 8d ; ham, 8d to 9d; Canterbury hams and bacon, 9d (in cloth), hams only lid; honey, in bulk, 4d per lb.

A Proper Proceeding. The Auckland Board of Health have commenced proceedings against Mr Thomas Macffarlane as curator, for authorising the sale of the clothes of a typhoid fever patient. The clothes, after the sale, were seiz-d and destroyed.

Horse Sale. Several well-known racehorses were offered for sale by auction to-day. Messrs Hunter and Nolan sold as follows :— Flying Scud, by Dead Shot, dam Volunteer, out of a Wentworth mare, to C. Warren for 39 guineas ; King Quail, by Yattendon, dam Quail, to F. Duder, of North Shore, for 70 guineas ; and j Maori, by Tim Whiffler, dam Waratah, by Millionaire, to T. Clark for 50 guineas. Mr A. Buckland offered for sale the racing mare Mataia, and also a three-year-old entire by Musket, and a two-'f year-old filly, full siater. Neither were' disposed of, owing to the reserves not being reached.
