THE HAMILTON BRIDGE. TO THE EDITOR.
Sin,— I do not know what "Query" is driving :it in your last issue. Some short time ago I received a load of sweepings given to me by the borough workman, and the only money I paid was for cartage. Several other people in Hamilton, I believe, have had loads of the same article, but jn no instance, I believe, have they ever paid one hingie penny to the foreman. Therefore, I cannot see where *,lie perquisites come in. A 1 - to the cost of sweeping, that is a matter with which I have nothing to do, further than that I know that some four years ago the contract price for sweeping the biidge was 12s (!d per week, but for the last three years it has only cost the ratepayers 3s Gd per week. The above is penned in fairness to the borough foreman by yours, &c, Hamiltonian.
