WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL
The above council mot for ordinary business on Tuesday, April Bth, Crs. Lake (chairman), Atkinson, Tea^dale, Germann, and Lang being present. Correspondence—From the Ngaiuawahia Town Board re works in the township. The clerk was directed to reply that the engineer had been instructed to carry out necessary works.—From Mr H. Roche re finger post at the cross roads, Te Rahu. The engineer reported tb.it the contractors, had not finished the contract satisfactoi ily. The council decided not to make any further payments until the work is done to the satisfaction of the engineer. —From Registrar Sibley re evasion of dog registration. Mr Sibley to bs instructed to take the fees for the last year.—From the Treasury, notifying imprest payment of £250 on loan. —From Mr Lamb, resigning office. Resignation accepted.—Mr T. Good fellow, asking fin ther time to clear furze. It was resolved that Mr Good fellow be notified to remove the furze at once. [
Surfacemen.— It was agreed to take on surfacemen for a limited period on Cam androads.
bridge Ohaupo Grvvel Supply.—The clerk was directed to infoiin the railway manager that five trucks daily could be taken, and the end of April would be a suitable time to commence.
Tenders.—The following tenders for works under the new loan were accepted :—: — Contract No. 1, Messrs Carnachan and Mooney ; No. 2, Welsh and Giles ; No. 3 and 4, McCallum ; No. 5, Dellicar ; No. G, J. C. Booth.
Engineer's Report.—Re Alexandra main road. The engineer's suggestion to adopt the line of road straight from the Whatiwhatihoe road to the cemetery road, so as to junction with the Te Awamutu mam road was adopted, if Mr Sinden and the Town Board subscribe towards the cost of drains. The engineer reported he had not as yet been able to obtain the timber to repair the Havelock biidge. The Cambridge bridge requii ed screwing up. Engineer to arrange between the two councils, also to have the Rotorangi end of swamp road repaiied.
Ohote Bridge.—Agreed that Mr Hindle be allowed to bring fence up to bridge for protection of embankment, and also have approaches repaired.
Manovhoe Bridge.—The engineer was authorised to fascine approach and fence in the sides at a cost not exceeding £30. Re Engineer.—The council agieed with present engineers for a further term of three months for £00.
Re Fuiuk.—The engineer reported that Messrs Ryburn, Meiedith, Cronin, and J. G iff old had furze spreading. The clerk was directed to issue notices to clear. It was resolved to levy the special rate for the security of the loan at the next meeting.
H uiii/rox Bridge.— The council resolved that immediate steps be taken to oppose the action of the boiough council in moving for the maintenance of the bridge being apportioned among local bodies.
