THE SMALL BIRD NUISANCE.
At the meeting of the Taniahere Farmer' Club, held on the 4th ins>t., the binall bud nuisance wai fully discussed, and the following losolutiun unanimously passed: — " That the sucictary be in&fciucted to wiite to the chairman of the lespective county councils and road boaids, stating that a stiong feeling of repugnance exists against the intention of wholesale pinioning of small brids throughout the distnet, and that this club lias been lequeofced to use its influence to pieventsame by lecoinmcnding the employment of bhd-catcbers by contract, to net the birds and destroy nests during the breeding season, which course, it is believed, would prove equally efficatious and less dangeious than poisoning, and to this? effect the club has agreed to devote a portion of its fnndb as the nucleus of a small biid fund, provided thevaiious county councils and road boards will cooperate.
