Unsuccessful Sortie from Khartoum. — Osman's Movements. — England and Abyssinia.
[Received April 1, 12 25 a.m.] Cairo, March 30. Telegrams from the Soud.in state that Gordon Pasha made a sortie from Khartoum on the 16th inst. at the head of a stiong force of Egyptian troop*, The latter proved perfectly untrustworthy, and fled at the first charge of the Arab ca\alry, 200 being killed.
Londox, March 31. The telegrams from Egypt published in the London papeis state that when Gordon Pasha made the soi tie against the rebels suuounding Khartoum his Egyptian forces numbered 2000 mens who fled at the approach of 60 Arab horsemen, and they retieated into the city, suffering great loss. It is estimated that fully 200 Egyptians were killed. The rebels captured two guns. The latest information from Cairo states that Osmaii Digna has leturned to Tamaneb, the scene of recent engagements with Major-Goneral Guiham's forces. Major-General Graham distrusts the sinceiityof professed friendship by the ■Viabs, and is not in favour of a British advance being mule on Berber. The King of Abyssinia, at the head of an army of 28,000 men, has met and welcomed Admiral Hewitt, uho recently proceeded there on a secret mission.
