Information has • been received from Mountfort's survey party. They have reached Ohura, having followed up the line from Tongaparatu, from the point where Carkeek had stopped. They have obtained another good route to Te Awamutu. This is the third good route which has been found inland, and will open up a splendid agricultural country. The Wanaka, the first Union Company's steamer that has gone alongside the breakwater, discharged cargo and embarked passengers there ou Saturday. She had more than four feet of water under her.
