In pursurance of the provisions of the Maunicipal Corporations Act and Local Elections Act, 187G, I hereby give notice that an ELECTION will be held on FRIDAY, the 28th instant, for the return of a duly qualified person as Councillor for the Borough of Hamilton, vice Councillor McDonald, resigned. WAIKATO PLATE HANDICAP, of 15sovs., and Silver Tea and Coffee Service. Once lound the course. Nomination, lsov ; acceptance, lsov. First horse to receive lOsovs. and Service; 2nd, ssovs; 3id to save his stuke. Horses to be the property of settlers in the Waikato, Waipa and Piako counties three months previous to day of entry. CONDITIONS : Entrance fee for all handicaps to be forwarded with nomination and colors, age and pedigree of horse, addressed to the Secretary, Post-office, Cambridge, or Mr William Peicival, Auckland, notT later than Thursday, 17th April, 18S4. Weights will appear in Auckland and Walk ato papers on Fiiday, 2oth Apiil, 1884. Acceptances and general entries close with the Secretary or Mr VV. Percival by Monday, 28th April, 1884. Acceptances for second day's Hurdles, Publicans Purse and Waikato Plate will be received by the Secrerary up to 12 o'clock noon of second day's races. In the event of a walk over only 50 per cent- of the stakes will be paid. Any jockey riding except in the colors entered will be fined 2sovs. No entry will be leccived, except upon the condition that all claims, disputes, and objections arising, shall be decided by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint, and their decision shall be final. All protests must be accompanied with a deposit of 3sovs., which will be forfeited to the funds of the Club, should the Stewards consider the protest frivolous or vexatious. The Rules of the Auckland Eacing Club will be strictly adhered to. Ten per cent will be deducted from prize in each event for second horse. WALTER SCOTT, Secretary.
