WELLINGTON, Saturday.
As the wiiicl went down at sunset, and the sea ;ilso, although the water was still lumpy, it was determined to row the four-oar outrigger race, Wellington, Canterbury, and Wanganui. There was a good start, and Canterbury got off with a lead, which was maintained for 700 or SOO yards. Wellington and Wanganui wete side by side. As the water became rougher Wellington drew ahead, and won easily by four lengths from the Canterbury boat. Wanganui was about a length and a-half behind Canterbury. Time, 5} minutes. Both the Judge and Registrar of the Supreme Court now being absent causes considerable inconvenience iv legal business. The Customs revenue here this week, £8905, is the largest week's receipt ever known in this port. A plan for a new Government printing office will be prepared immediately, and tenders invited. Monday. S. Patrick's Day Was celebrated by the Irishmen by a procession through the town and a picnic at the Hutt. The police made a raid on the publichouses yesterday. It is understood that proceedings are to be taken against four publicans for breaches of the Licensing Act.
