[Received March 14th, 12.30 a m.] Osman Digna Routed. London, March 13, evening. Telegrams are to hand from Cairo, announcing that intelligence has reached there that battle between the British troops and the rebels under 03m m Pasha, commenced at daybieak to day. The engagement was a very brief one, the enemy being speedily routed. No further partienlais had, up to the time of the despatch of the intelligence, reached Suakim. London, March 14. Intelligence to hand from Suakim states that the battle with the rebels under Osman Digna, which commenced this morning lasted only half an-hour, during which time the fighting was severe. The reb'ls were defeated on all sides. The British loss is stated to be trifling. Later. A despatch to hand from General Giaham states that Osman's camp has In en taken, after heavy fighting on both sidi s. The engagement was a very brief oiu-. The loi^s (in the British side is given as seventy killed, and one hnndied wounded. The enemy's loss is not known.
