Wanganui Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting.
[BY TELEGRAPH. — PRKSS AbSOCIATION.] Waxgamjj, Thursday. TirE first day's racing of the Autumn Meeting of the Jockey Club to-day was the mo&t successful ever held on the couise from eveiy point of view. The Cup was the finest lace ever urn on the course, and high enconmms were given to Mr. Evitfc, the handicapper. The weather was fine, through rather cold and gusty towards evening ; but the attendance was very good, fully 2000 persons being present. £3825 passed through the totalisator, the dividends in mosb cases being small. This order was maintained the first time round. After passing the stand the second time Tim Whiffler and Bayard made an effort, but both died away, and dropped to the rear. The other horses being close on the leaders, a, splendid finish resulted.
