THE CAMBRIDGE-ROTORUA ROAD.

The Bay of Plenty Times, in a sphit of fairness, rare in these times, has re-pub-hshed in full the article on the Rotorua Ro.id, commenting on the untruthful statements of the Tauranga Telegraph, which appeared in these columns a week or so ago. The Bay of Plenty Tunes says :—": — " There is no good to be secured by attempting to falsify facts. The road is patronised, whether our contemporary may admit it or not. The real question is, How aie we, the people of Tauranga, to recover lost ground ? There is nothing manly or straightforward in saying that the objectioiiiible load is worse than it really is. Our business is to concern ourselves with the results of local negligence or carelessness, and endeavour, by legitimate means and mutual assistance, to re&tore the confidence of the public. Our contemporary, by serving a party, can only succeed in making itself ridiculous and doing harm to his district. Face the fact ; there is a road, lot it bo good or bad, that is drawing away the trade. To say that it is not so is silly ; to turn away from the fact is to foster the indolent habit of this place ; to do our duty is to speak of the facts as they exist, and endeavour to wake up the community to their true position."
