At the election of the Lyttelton Licensing Bench yesterday, Messrs J, R. Webb, J. P. Gullivev, J. Jenkins, J. B. Milson and A. W. Parsons were returned. The first three represent the temperance interest-. In Avon district the temperance party also had the best of it. w , , .
Wednesday. The tempcrnnce men weie beaten at the licensing elections tor South and West Chfistchuich. At the quartuly meeting of the Chamber of Commerce to-day, the President congratulated mem bets on tin- impiovcd state of commeicial matters in this district.
